![]() ![]() Although his face is similar to John's, he has blonde hair like his mother. When he was born, the Shadow Master kidnapped him and his mother from the hospital. In order to save Jimmy's life, Marika agreed to enter the Abyss inside the Shadow Dojo. The Shadow Master then raised Jimmy as his own son and taught him to fight and use the powers of the Black Flame. Jimmy became the Shadow Boss and later discovered his twin brother Billy when he began foiling Jimmy's criminal goals. When the Shadow Master attempted to get rid of Jimmy and Billy at the same time, Billy saved Jimmy, and Jimmy turned to the side of good. The Oldest Dragon then appeared at the ruins of the Dragon Dojo and taught the brothers how to transform into the Double Dragons. The Dragon Sword then split into two, giving Jimmy his own sword. Jimmy wielded the Dragon Claw daggers with his brother for a short while and was later given new armor by Kami. However, this armor is blue on the outside rather than red, and instead of wielding his Dragon Sword, Jimmy blasts energy beams (or perhaps flames) from a dragon-looking blaster on his arm. Jimmy is hotheaded and often speaks more like a street-smart brawler than an enlightened warrior. However, he eventually calms down and befriends those who are on the same side.ĭouble Dragon V: The Shadow Falls dossierĭate of birth: 10-23-69- Libra/Scorpio, Videogame Jimmy Lee is 7-28-70- Trend/geek Leo/Sagittarius, influenced in martial arts and higher egoĪ master of "Sou-Setsu-Ken," he runs a dojo with his younger brother, Billy.Īt times he clashes with other personalities such as Marian or the hacker Megabyte.įor instance, instead of "calling upon the Double Dragon" birthmark to guide him somewhere, he will instead order the "scaly one" to "lead us to the butt we wish to kick." Because of his Shadow training, he is somewhat knowledgeable about the Shadow Master's organization and utilizes a more aggressive fighting style than Billy. Unlike the quick and agile Billy, his expertise is in heavy and powerful offensive moves. Being well aware of Shuko's powers, Jimmy attempts to stop Billy from attacking the evil organizations, and he unwillingly heads for Bloody Town. Jimmy Lee - The older of the Lee brothers, Jimmy is high-spirited and possesses strength beyond compare. He co-founded Sou-Setsu-Ken with his younger brother Billy, and was the instructor at their dojo prior to the war. Roll has always been a slightly offensive housecleaning bot, and Rush still turns into a jet, so I guess one can’t really complain.Rumored to surpass even Billy in martial arts skill, Jimmy likes spending his time studying Eastern philosophy. Still, I think they may have done much worse. Rush was essentially turned into Scooby-Doo, which is the fate of every dog in a cartoon ever, regardless of whether they are real or robot. Roll was given a bunch of cleaning accessories that she often used as weapons, the most common one being a vacuum head. There is also a lot of emphasis on hand-to-hand combat between Mega Man and his enemies, which is strange considering that all he has to do is retract his left hand to activate his blaster arm. ![]() His blatant bullying of Mega Man may have confused a lot of people, as it was never really made clear where his allegiances lay in the games. There were also many small plot changes, the weirdest of all being Proto Man’s switch from being a neutral ally to a guy working exclusively for Dr. I’m sorry, Air Man.The appearance of the characters was not the only major deviation the cartoon took. They accepted some Robot Masters for who they were, and rejected others. The show’s creators were given full creative control over the simple concept of “two good guys who fight bad ones.” There was probably also a side memo that read, “Oh, and be SURE to include dragons! I don’t care how. It was a pretty cool retelling of those events, but from that point forward, the game and the TV show had very little in common other than sharing a name. The first episode of the show was loosely based on the NES version of the first game, wherein Billy must fight his twin brother, Jimmy, who is revealed to be the evil Shadow Boss. It wasn’t the best, but it was still memorable for its mixture of rock and Oriental sounds.Īs far as paying tribute to its source material goes, Double Dragon is one of the worst offenders out there. Double Dragon‘s theme song was no exception. Around the time this cartoon was released, theme songs were turning into full-on rock anthems, reflecting the bucketful of attitude that kids begged for in their programming during the 1990s. However, I do have very fond memories of watching the show’s intro, to the point where I now know the theme song better than I do the contents of the actual program. To be completely honest, I was never too into the Double Dragon cartoon because action shows were boring to my younger self.
